Success of the 30-hour week at Rustler scientifically supported

Since the beginning of this year, the new working time model has been implemented in real operation throughout Rustler’s property management. This means that employees’ working hours have been reduced to 30 hours per week with full pay.
This step was well prepared. “An entire department was already working according to the new working time model. This test operation showed that continuity and stability in the team as well as employee satisfaction have increased, and accessibility for customers has not been affected,” reports Martin Troger, Managing Director of Rustler Property Management.
After the implementation of real operation in 2024, the new working time model has now also been scientifically analyzed, accompanied by XIMES, a research and consulting company specializing in working time models.
“The methodology included working time evaluations, employee surveys and focus group interviews in which topics such as satisfaction with the 30-hour week, the stress situation and effects on leisure activities were analyzed,” explains Anna Arlinghaus from XIMES the key points of the collaboration.
The results show a consistently positive picture, as Rustler reports. “The implementation of the 30-hour week is already going very well in many areas, our employees are mostly very satisfied and we have been able to achieve an increase in efficiency in many areas,” says co-managing director Roman Urban, summarizing the results of the study.
The company’s focus is now on consistently continuing process optimization and getting used to the new working model. With around 200 employees, Rustler property management is one of the leading real estate service providers in Austria, where it has been operating for 90 years and was recently recertified as a “Great Place to Work”.
